It leads through one of the most historically and geologically exciting Thuringian landscapes, which are part of the National GeoPark Thuringia Inselsberg-Drei Gleichen.
The region is dominated by the three landgrave castles: Burg Gleichen, Mühlburg and Veste Wachsenburg. Each one is worth at least one detour.
The trail also leads past the Wechmar storehouse, a shooting range, and then up through a mixed forest to the Kaffberg. At the top, the hiker is finally rewarded with the sight of a sight: the view of the "Drei Gleichen" - the castle ensemble on the three neighbouring mountains. The undulating, meadow-rich landscape is surrounded by the Inselsberg, the mountains of the Thuringian Forest and the rich beech forest of the adjacent Hainich National Park.
